CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (R&D)

Responsible to incorporate innovation and improvements in the product in order to be the preferred supplier for the customers.

Reports to Group Engineering Director.

Ref.: 150203

Key tasks:

  • Develop and deploy  the strategy to innovate, research, develop and improve our products reflecting the wider business strategy, global demand and optimal utilization of resources
  • Responsible to compile market trends and customer needs from Sales Office and provide a global view by series and markets.
  • Identify new needs, alternative materials and alternative design principles.
  • Responsible to identify new products.
  • Responsible for standardization on raw materials.
  • Define the technology for new machine generation.
  • Accountable for rationalization on design principles for components and subassemblies.
  • Implement evaluation criteria with design to cost, design for manufacturing and cost for value.
  • Drives initiatives for cost and weight reductions.
  • Create standard specifications for key components: cylinders, motors, gears, slew rings…
  • Implement regular design reviews.
  • Provide for production designers the appropriate toolbox to design: working principles, calculation methods, design guidelines and standard libraries.
  • Responsible to integrate all the inputs into new designs.

The position requires:

  • Degree in Ingeniería Mecánica, Materiales or other equivalent qualification
  • Knowledge and training in R&D, Quality, Business Administration
  • Experience of managing Engineering and R&D departments
  • Experience of contract compliance, risk identification, risk mitigation and risk management
  • Proficient in English (Español nativo)
  • Experience with international organization, multiple regions and multiple product lines
  • Ten years of working in a variety of complex manufacturing and operations cultures
  • Experience in managing complex Supply Chain to deliver against service levels and business expectations.
